Keeping the bold, intimate, and engaging theater “cooking” creates a challenge, even though our 99-seat house is often filled to capacity. A gap always exists between the cost of producing excellent theatre and the income we earn at the box office. To fill this gap, we count on support from our generous contributors. All gifts to the Kitchen Theater Company (a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation) are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
The Annual Fund is the bedrock for funding General Operating Expenses. We encourage everyone to participate in this. There are additional programs that may have a special appeal to you. Below is a list of all out funding opportunities; click on the name to find out more. If you have questions please contact Director of Development & Marketing Lindsay Hahnes at
or Managing Director Stephen Nunley at
or by phone at 607. 272-0403.
Annual Fund
Gifts to the Kitchen’s annual fund provide bedrock support for the theater’s yearly operating budget, for our four performance series, community outreach projects, salaries for our terrific staff, and other things like heat, electricity, and a well-stocked “pantry.” The annual fund drive kicks off in October —but gifts to our annual fund can be made at any point in the season, including right now!

The Excellence Fund
Established to honor Artistic Director Rachel Lampert in her 10th anniversary season, this fund provides supplemental discretionary money disbursed each season to enhance the A.D.’s artistic vision in the development, production values, and presentation of high quality theater in ways that are not possible in the Kitchen’s yearly operational budget.
How to join? Gifts to the Artistic Director’s Excellence Fund, which is a distinctive giving opportunity, separate from the Annual Fund, are made through two-year pledges. You can become a member by making a gift or commitment pledge at one these levels:
Artistic Director’s Circle level - $2,500+
Artistic Director Friend level - $1250-$2,499
Gifts can be paid over a two-year period.
Percy Browning Fund for New Music
Established in honor of Percy Browning, President Emerita of the Board of Directors of the Kitchen Theatre Company, this fund supports the creation and commissioning of original scores, recording of original music for use in production, live performance of music as part of KTC productions and archival recordings.
The Dewey/Goetz Fund for Design & Production
Named in memory and honor of Martha Dewey by her husband Kent Goetz, this fund supports enhancement of design and production by providing additional funds beyond the Kitchen Theatre Company’s annual budget.
Professional Development - Resident Intern Program
For the past seven years the Kitchen Theatre Company has had a post-college resident intern program that brings newly graduated young people from across the country to the KTC for 6-12 month residencies. Internships are available in stage management/production, arts management, and marketing/development. During their stay with the KTC, they work alongside our professional staff receiving hands on job training. Our team of interns is crucial to the daily operations of the Kitchen and provide necessary support to the full time staff.
The interns receive a small weekly stipend and housing. Our resident interns have successfully gone on to fully compensated positions in NYC and other metropolitan areas and some to graduate school. We have hired a few who have joined our staff after completing their internship to continue as staff members.
Arts Education Program
This season we began a small pilot project to teach theater and dance to elementary school children from GIAC After School Program. These young people are in classes two days a week with KTC staff and guest teaching artists from our cast members. KTC Artistic Director, Rachel Lampert and Managing Director Stephen Nunley are seasoned teaching artists and bring years of experience to this project. This is the start of a program we intend to continue through the season. We are able to fund this with a gift from a KTC supporter. The Kitchen Theatre Company has received a $9,000 Matching Challenge Grant from an anonymous donor to support the Arts Education programming. Matching Gifts can be made through December, 2011.
More about Giving
Monthly Installment Plan
Consider making a donation pledge to the Kitchen Theatre Company now! With gifts of $500 or more, we also offer the option of paying your pledge in small, monthly amounts by check or automatic credit card payments. Managing Director, Stephen Nunley, would be happy to set this up for you.
Bequests and Gift Planning
Kitchen Theatre Company welcomes donations in the form of planned gifts—that is, the designation of the KTC as a beneficiary in wills, retirement plans, IRA accounts, life insurance, and trusts. These gifts boost the advancement of the theatre through development of endowment and/or by providing current use funds that help us to meet ongoing expenses.

Share your success in the market with the Kitchen Theatre Company. Gifts of appreciated securities (whether individual stocks or mutual fund shares) can help you avoid capital gains tax while also providing a charitable deduction.
