The Kitchen Theatre is currently seeking a resident stage manager and resident interns. We are always interested in actors, playwrights, and volunteers.

Stage Manager

Kitchen Theatre Company is seeking a qualified non AEA stage manager for its 2009-10 Season. Seeking Stage Manager who is conscientious, motivated, a self-starter, resourceful, detail oriented & extremely organized with strong communication/ managerial skills and excellent technical execution. Full-time paid staff position. Season runs August 2009 to July 2010.

Intern Program

The Kitchen Theatre Company hires post-college interns for six-month periods.

General Production - Hands-on experience assisting SM, PM, ME, TD, actors, designers and directors throughout the entire production process, from pre-production to strike. Housing and stipend provided.

General Arts Administration - Assist Artistic, Business, Marketing Directors and build hands-on experience in all areas of arts administration. Housing and stipend provided.

Marketing - Duties include: assist with writing press releases, design of marketing materials, direct mail campaigns, assist in updating KTC's website and other support.

Auditions

The KTC holds auditions when we need to fill open roles. We encourage new professionals in the community to submit a resume and headshot to rachel@kitchentheatre.org

Submissions

Main Stage Series
Please note that the Kitchen Theatre’s size and aesthetic preclude us from producing large cast plays.  Please do not send plays requiring more than six actors.  They will not be read.  Please submit the following materials if you wish to have your play considered for our Main Stage Series:

  • A biographical statement describing your experience as a playwright
  • A synopsis of the play you are submitting
  • A complete production history of the play you are submitting
  • A complete character breakdown of the play, including ages and descriptions
  • 10 pages of dialogue

Email submissions will not be accepted.  Please send a hard copy. If the theater is interested in receiving a complete script, it will be requested. Please do not send complete scripts. No scripts will be returned. It may take up to 12 months for scripts to be read.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are 73 seats and almost as many opportunities to meet your interests at the Kitchen Theatre.

    • Be “on book” during technical rehearsals
    • Help with the “strike” or “load-in” of the set
    • Distribute posters
    • Proof read
    • Help us catalogue our costume collection
    • Help organize in our prop department
    • Assist us in gathering properties, costumes, set pieces
    • Serve on our On-line Auction committee
    • Do some research for us
    • Help out in the office
    • Do mailings, answer phones...
    • Usher

Wanted! Teen volunteers for our new Kitchen Helpers program. Assist the house manager by selling concessions & tickets and answering patron questions, and see the production for free. To join up, email Amie Conner at
