Board of Director 2018 - 2019
Kitchen Theatre Company's Board of Directors provides the guidance and support for this mission and enables the theater to create, produce and present professional theater in an intimate setting. KTC Board Members share their skills and expertise, as well as their love of the arts to assist and support the staff, the artists and volunteers. From the combination of all these "company" energies emerges the work that we share with our community year-round.
Welcome to the Kitchen Theatre Company’s 28th season,
the second under the inspiring leadership of Producing Artistic Director Bevin O’Gara.
When my family and I moved to Ithaca in 2014, we were delighted to find a thriving cultural performing arts scene. Having only lived in large metropolitan areas, we especially wondered if we would miss the easy access to top quality theater. How thrilled we were to find the Kitchen, whose year-round season of thought-provoking, cutting edge plays, featuring some of the best professional actors performing in an intimate space, rivals in quality what you would find anywhere in the country.
Bevin and her team have assembled a fabulous season of plays (and a musical!), guaranteed to make us laugh, cry and think about ourselves in new and important ways. We will be featuring the works of a great generation of new American playwrights and memorable performances by actors — some making their Ithaca debuts and others back by popular demand.
As always, the year ahead will also include our two marquee fundraiser events — the always entertaining (and often bawdy!) holiday party in December; and the second annual LipSink contest in March which — trust me — you won’t want to miss.
As a former actor, I feel fortunate to be able to continue to experience the thrill of live theater not only as an audience member but as a volunteer for this great organization. Whether you have been coming to the Kitchen for years or if this is your first time in our space, if you like what you see and how you feel, please consider joining me by getting involved in the Kitchen. There are plenty of ways to do so: buy a subscription; tell your friends and family about us; make a donation; or serve as an usher or otherwise participate in one of our many other volunteer opportunities. Just ask me or any other member of the board, or our staff, for more information.
Live theater is a truly unique and life enhancing experience. I am so glad you have decided to spend this time today at the Kitchen. We look forward to seeing you back soon.
