Live at 35 is a celebration of the creativity and passion that make Kitchen Theatre Company a cornerstone of Ithaca’s arts community!

Join host Karl Gregory for a lighthearted, musical sashay through our bold, adventurous, conversation-sparking 35th season.

 

Cheer on your favorite local luminaries as they share hilarious and heartfelt performances that pay homage to the world-shifting, heart-opening stories we’ve already shared… and one amazing play still to come!​​​​​

 

It's an evening of fun, food, and laughs, and a great way to support KTC’s bold, intimate, and engaging work.​​​​​

Meet Karl Gregory

​Karl Gregory is an Award-Winning Actor, as well as an Award-Winning Bartender. Go figure.  

 

Karl has been seen in over 50 productions with Kitchen Theatre Company, favorite shows include: Reindeer Sessions, Every Brilliant Thing, Buyer & Cellar, Peter and the Starcatcher (SALT Award), Gutenberg! The Musical!, Fully Committed (SALT Award), SantaLand Diaries, Swimming In The Shallows, A Perfect Ganesh, The Cripple of Inishmaan, and The Servant of Two Masters.

NYC Theater: From White Plains (Fault Line Theatre, GLAAD Media Award), FROGS (Fault Line Theatre), BecauseHeCan (Personal Space Theatrics), The Servant of Two Masters (PS122).  Regional Theater:  Ever So Humble, The 39 Steps (Hangar Theatre), Testosterone, The Wetsuitman (Cherry Arts), The Importance of Being Earnest (Trinity Rep) Angels In America: Parts 1 & 2 (Provincetown Theater). TV: ALPHA HOUSE, NIGHTCAP. He can be seen in the movie “HIGH TIDE” directed by Marco Calvani. BFA- Syracuse University, MFA- Brown/Trinity Rep. Karl splits his time between Ithaca and Provincetown with his husband, Andrew.

Barry Chester is a management consultant in his professional life. He is currently President of the Kitchen’s Board of Directors. He also plays in– and is a Board member of – the Ithaca Community Orchestra, and is President Emeritus of Opera Ithaca. He is delighted to be part of KTCs 35th season gala!

Lesley Greene was a KTC staff member from 2001 to 2020. She is the co-director of Story House Ithaca, and she co-founded and continues to be an organizer of Porchfest. Her play The Turnaway Play premiered at KTC and has had dozens of readings and performances across the country. Lesley and her husband Robbert love to sing and dance and play instruments to raise money for their favorite theater company.

Emily Jackson was a Kitchen Theatre Company intern during the 2012-13 season, was on staff from 2014-16, and is now the theater's Producing Artistic Director. She is so happy to be sharing "important conversations" with the amazing Ithaca community and the wonderful artists whose work fills our stage.

Mary Kane is an avid arts enabler, as staff or board member and officer of CSMA, the Hangar Theatre, and others; and performing at First Street, Hangar and Firehouse.  Mary founded and ran Concept Systems, leading social research for public good, for over 30 years while continuing to dance and sing whenever permitted.

Ilan Kaplan is a local actor, improviser, and teacher. At the Kitchen, he acted in Laughs in Spanish and has brought his own show, Undressed: The Musical, several times in the last few years. Ilan teaches improv comedy in Ithaca and performs every month in NYC. He's offering to record an improvised song to donors of $50 and more.

Perri LoPinto has been an active member of the Ithaca arts community for over 35 years, having performed at The Hangar Theatre, First Street Playhouse, The Firehouse Theatre, and the Kitchen Theatre. She served on the board of directors for the Kitchen, including two years as Board President. She also is a ceramic artist showing her work regionally in galleries and juried festivals. In her spare time she is the Executive Director of the Legacy Foundation.

Stephen Nunley

Stephen Nunley I moved to Ithaca to join Rachel as part of a small staff, and worked as the Managing Director at the Kitchen with Rachel and Lesley for many years.  The Kitchen will always have a special place in my heart.  Please join me in keeping KTC as a gem of theater joy and creativity in Ithaca.

Tyler M. Perry is an award-winning designer for theatre, television, and live events. At Kitchen Theatre Company, he has designed sets, lights, and/or projections for over 30 productions, and is happy to serve as the theater's Resident Designer this season.

Robbert van Renesse is a banjo player, swing dancer, and professor of computer science. He is married to Lesley Greene.

The KTC Staff is delighted to support our beloved theater by performing at Live at 35! We're a scrappy, determined bunch and are ready to act and sing our hearts out at the gala on April 11. If you've ever spoken to Gwyn on the phone, grabbed a drink from Ben at the bar, enjoyed Jen's always perfect backstage cue-calling, been awestruck by one of Brendan's sets, or grinned at Rebecca's Ghost Light puns, please throw down a donation in support of the staff!
