Deletris Bryant is a multidisciplinary theatre artist from PG County Maryland. Although they are currently based in Harlem, they’re proud to call the Kitchen Theatre Company an artistic home. Some of their favorite KTC sound design credits include: ‘Feast’(2026) ’No Child’ (2023), and ‘Do You Feel Anger’(2022)  ’N/A’ has them ruminating about how, with every new generation, there emerges a genre of music as the voice of counter culture and revolution: Jazz, Rock, Hip-hop/ Rap, Alternative, etc. When it comes to music, there will always be older folks that refuse to get behind the “new” sonic ideas of the younger crowd. They dig in their heels and resist the current of change they used to pioneer. There will always be younger folks that won’t listen to “oldies” but their favorite song samples a classic from decades before. Likewise, it seems that in order to rewrite the song of our democracy, we have to be able to truly hear one another. May we tune our ears to be able to recognize forward motion even when it may not sound the way we expect it to.
